Biography
I am a PhD student at the School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. My research is sponsored by a grant titled “Language3D: Creating Editable 3D Content from Deep Language Understanding for 3D-First Digital Platforms,” led by Dr. Binh-Son Hua.
I began learning Pascal, C, C++ programming in 2014, developed several software applications in C# and WAP, including a coffee shop management system and an English dictionary. In 2018, I explored embedded systems, working with 8051 microcontroller kits to create simple embedded applications before returning to focus on software engineering.
In 2020, I became a finalist in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, where I presented a VR-based Virtual Laboratory for simulating chemistry reactions. I landed my first internship as a Software Engineer, focusing on developing motion-tracking applications and games for AR, VR, and MR platforms. During that time, I also began shifting my focus toward artificial intelligence, intrigued by its potential to enhance immersive technologies.
In my second undergraduation year (2022), I co-founded ScaleMind Research, a Vietnam-based tech start-up developing an AI-driven recruitment platform, with seed funding from Antler Venture Capital. I also organized and led an undergraduate AI research team of 22 members focused on creating an AI-based diagnostic system for healthcare applications, which successfully published five papers with promising results.
From 2023, my industry experience also includes contributing to a confidential document information extraction system with the TrueID team at VNG, funded by an investment from Asia Commercial Bank, and developing a receipt-to-voucher conversion system capable of processing 2,000 receipts per second with the Gotit team.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in 2024 from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Dr. Viet Dung Nguyen, focusing my research on long-tailed segmentation (my bachelor’s thesis is available here). From 2022 to 2024, I and my close collaborator Minh Duong Nguyen, had the opportunity to work under the guidance of top-tier professors: Prof. Nguyen Hoang Tran, Prof. Long Tran-Thanh, and Prof. Quoc-Viet Pham on large-batch training and long-tailed segmentation.
